When outdoor season ends (plan your pivot)

- Olds Farmers Market— Thursday evenings in the warm months at the Cow Palace; Innisfail Growers lists July 2 – September 24, 2026 for Olds. Holiday shopping shifts to ORE's Country Wonderland Market in November (see below).
- Lacombe Farmers Market— Outdoor Thursdays May– October, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Michener Park. Starting November they move indoors to Lacombe Memorial Centre (5214 50 Ave). Gasoline Alley: your weekly winter anchor
When the Polytechnic parking-lot market closes for the season, Gasoline Alley is the reliable Friday–Sunday grocery-and-gift stop in Red Deer County. The market publishes year-round hours on gasolinealleymarket.ca: Friday and Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Sunday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Nearly 50 local vendors operate under Alberta's 80/20 approved-market rule (at least 80% Alberta make/bake/grow vendors).
Extended Christmas-week hours are common but change yearly. The Alberta Farmers' Market Association listing still shows the December 2025 extended pattern (Dec 18 11–7, Dec 19 9–7, Dec 20 9–5, Dec 21–22 10–4). Treat that as a planning template for late December 2026 — not a confirmed 2026 schedule — and refresh from gasolinealleymarket.ca or AFMA closer to mid-December.
Vendors:Pop-up booths must book the full three-day weekend at $80/day ($240 + GST). Set-up is Thursday 11:00 am – 1:00 pm or Friday morning. Two big Westerner weekends — know which one you're going to
Westerner Park hosts two flagship November/December draws that shoppers often confuse. Both use Neeralta Pavilion in 2026, but the experience and price differ:
Festival of Trees (Nov 27–29)
Charity fundraiser for Red Deer Regional Health Foundation. Expect decorated trees, a large silent auction (online bidding opens Nov 26 at 5:00 pm), Candy Cane Lane for kids, stage entertainment, and a Gift & Sweet Shop. Paid gate admission. Longer Friday/Saturday evenings (to 9:00 pm) make this the better "night out" market. Ticketed galas (Festival of Wines Nov 27; Mistletoe Magic Nov 28) sell separately — public tickets go on sale Monday October 6, 2026 at 10:00 am per the festival site.
Christmas in the County (Dec 5–6)
Free-admission maker market billed as Red Deer's largest holiday gift shopping experience. Saturday runs an hour later than Sunday. Free parking. Vendor inquiries go through Opulence Alliance (403-608-3710). Best pick if you want density of local craft vendors without a gate fee.
Nearby towns worth the drive
Olds — Country Wonderland Market: Olds Regional Exhibition expands this show to two days (Nov 13–14, 2026). Food vendors need an Approved Safe Food Handling certificate within 10 days of acceptance. Spaces are 9′ × 6′ (power and corner footprints differ). Applications were slated to open August 7, 2026 — if you are reading this later in the season, email office@oldsregionalexhibition.com about waitlist status.
Lacombe — indoor Thursdays: Continuity matters more than spectacle here. Once outdoor Michener Park ends, Memorial Centre keeps Thursday shoppers in the habit. Stall fees are not published online for winter; contact the manager. The market still follows the provincial 80/20 rule.
Sylvan Lake — Light Up weekend: Visit Sylvan Lake confirms Dec 5–6, 2026 for Light Up the Lake (Breakfast with Santa and the Santa Claus Parade). Detailed craft-market hours often publish closer to the weekend — pair a Saturday Westerner trip with a Sunday lake visit only after hours are posted.

Late November (trees + sweets)
Hit Festival of Trees Friday evening or Saturday (gates open to 9:00 pm). Budget admission plus Candy Cane Lane coupons if kids are along. Grab weekly staples at Gasoline Alley Sunday before it closes at 4:00 pm.

Christmas in the County Saturday 10–5 is the densest free craft day on the Red Deer calendar. Bring reusable bags and some cash — most vendors take cards, but float speed still helps in crowded aisles.
Any winter weekend (food first)
Gasoline Alley Fri–Sun for meat, baking, produce, and gifts. Add Lacombe Thursday indoor if you live north of Red Deer. Skip planning around Red Deer's outdoor Saturday market — it is closed until May 2027.
Olds day trip (mid-November)
Wonderland Market Friday evening (5–9 pm) suits after-work shoppers; Saturday daytime covers the full vendor list. Combine with Hwy 2 corridor errands so the drive pays for itself.

- Book Gasoline Alley pop-ups early — holiday weekends are called out as high demand; full Fri–Sun commitment required.
- For Christmas in the County, contact Opulence Alliance / 403-608-3710 rather than assuming Saturday casual drop-in rules from the summer Red Deer Market.
- Food sellers: carry your AHS-recognized food-safety certificate. ORE Wonderland requires it within 10 days of approval; approved farmers' markets still expect labelling compliance.
